“But now bring me a musician.” Then it happened, when the musician played, that the hand of the LORD came upon him.”2 Kings 3:15

Greetings,

It is God’s delight to raise a people who will be saved and come to knowledge of the truth; to the intent that they may grow onto Christlike maturity and fulfill God’s purpose here on earth.

As a result of this, Our heavenly Father, according to Ephesians 4:11-14, raised ministers who will groom His people and bring them unto this expected maturity.

While we may argue that the work of building up God’s people unto Christlike maturity is the “job” of pastors, prophets, evangelists, etc alone, music ministers also have a very great role to play in this matter. We see that in the Scripture 1 Corinthians 14:26,

“How is it then, brethren? Whenever you come together, each of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a tongue, has a revelation, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification.”

We see in the scripture above that a psalm (spiritual song) should be sung for edification during our gathering together. This proves, without a shade of doubt, that music ministers equally contribute to the edification of God’s people.

As the Bible describes a “psalm” as a spiritual song, it goes without saying that song ministers must not only bring songs of the Spirit to edify the church, they themselves must be spiritual vessels; for a vessel can only produce clean water if it is clean itself.

As a result of this, do we understand the gravity of our work as music ministers? Are we privy to the truth that music ministers have the same responsibility as pastors, teachers, evangelists, etc to bring God’s presence into the midst (and lives) of His people? Are we aware that God’s standard for the vessel He uses has not changed; that His minister must be holy just as He (God) is holy?

These(and many more) the LORD will be teaching us at the coming event for music ministers, themed: “Bring Me A Minstrel”. Please find the details on the image below.
